For the record, I don’t like Craigslist. I have never had anything good come of any Craigslist experience, including selling a bicycle, buying motorcycles, finding housing, finding jobs, finding gigs, and the erotic services ads. I tried advertising there a couple of times, and looked for modeling jobs. A few years back they started requiring that you register with a phone number, for “safety,” in order to post an adult ad. Then they started charging to post adult ads in order to pacify government officials that thought there was some sort of danger in the adult section. This weekend in the US they put up “censored” in place of the adult services link. Last week there was an excellent NPR radio story on the topic. You can listen to it and read the transcript. It’s really well done, and supports the right of individuals to have private lives. I’m not entirely sure why Craigslist has been targeted because there are numerous places, websites and print media, where people post adult ads.
I know a lot of folks complain that there’s so much human trafficking and slavery in the adult industry, but realistically more trafficking and slavery happens in order industries, as this news article from earlier this week shows.
Let me tell you, trying to do anything with any of the webcam sites has been mostly irritating and occasionally horrible. I attempted to sign up for about eight different sites. My first trip to Las Vegas was very interesting. I was there for the Desiree Alliance convention, so I was hanging out with other folks involved in the adult industry.
